Perpustakaan merupakan bagian vital dalam penyelenggaraan pendidikan. Sebab perpustakaan menyediakan berbagai jenis layanan informasi kepada pelajar, mahasiswa dan guru atau tenaga pengajar di semua jenjang pendidikan. bagaimana cara yang dapat kita lakukan sehingga dapat mengetahui informasi apa saja yang telah tersedia? Kapan kita menggunakan informasi itu? Dan bagaimana kita bisa mendapatkan jenis-jenis informasi tertentu?Program literasi informasi yang telah dipraktikan di banyak negara telah membantu dalam pengingkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan user perpustakaan, terutama dalam aspek peroleh dan pemanfaatan informasi agar lebih berdaya guna. Program literasi informasi sangat relevan dengan pembelajaran berbasis sumber yang membebaskan ketergantungan perolehan informasi peserta didik yang hanya bersumber dari guru atau pengajar. Program ini menjadi program yang dapat menjawab tantangan dan dinamika kehidupan di era informasi. Perpustakaan Nasional RI diharapkan untuk mengambil peran lebih besar dalam Menyusun agenda tentang program literasi informasi sehingga dapat diimplementasikan di setiap jenjang pendidikan.References
