The main focus is on official reports and related data from that period, including library management, public interest in library services, and the evolution of these services in a colonial context. The goal of writing the history of library management in the Dutch East Indies is to offer a deeper understanding of the root causes, the development of information services, and the government's role in shaping literacy in the past. This research uses a historical method based on various primary sources from digital databases, collected between July and August 2024. The methodology includes topic selection, source collection and verification, data interpretation, and historiography, ensuring a systematic approach based on credible sources. Primary sources come from the Delpher database and the digital collections of Leiden University. Delpher was used to explore Dutch newspapers, books, and magazines, while Leiden's digital archives provided relevant documents. The findings show that while the government of the Dutch East Indies was involved in library management, its support was mainly limited to administrative oversight and basic regulation. Challenges included inadequate funding and a lack of trained librarians, which affected the quality of services and collection management. A significant disparity in support for libraries between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies was evident in the early 20th century.
Purwanto Putra Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-12-30 2024-12-30 31 3 224 238 10.37014/medpus.v31i3.5278 Analisis Kegiatan Pengembangan Koleksi Open Library Telkom University https://ejournal.perpusnas.go.id/mp/article/view/5186
As an effort to meet the needs of users and realize its position as a center of science and information sources through the collection of library collections, Open Library Telkom University carries out a collection development process. Each event was documented in minutes (.doc or .pdf format) recording the speakers' material, questions, and answers. As events increased, so did the volume of minutes. This research aimed to identify frequently discussed topics using Text Mining with a Topic Modelling approach. Latent Dirichlet Allocation was applied and evaluated by perplexity values (a measure of model quality). Results showed the optimal number of topics to represent the dataset was three, with the lowest perplexity value of 470.922 at the 30th iteration. The three main topics identified were reading interest and the need for books in schools and regions, libraries’ role in improving children’s literacy, and librarians' role in inclusive literacy programmes for both young and old, including health literacy. Frequent words were literacy, library, reading, books, and children.
Mutia Jelita Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2023-12-27 2023-12-27 31 3 253 265 10.37014/medpus.v31i3.5237 Keamanan Informasi dan Privasi Pengguna dalam Layanan Perpustakaan Digital https://ejournal.perpusnas.go.id/mp/article/view/5317
The development of libraries from conventional to digital-based libraries has brought significant impacts on the way library services are provided and accessed by users. However, along with its benefits, digital libraries face new challenges related to data security and user privacy such as effective protection of personal data. This research aims to analyze security and privacy threats in digital library services and identify the implementation of security technologies and privacy policies in this context. This research uses the narrative literature review method to analyze 12 references relevant to the topic of information security and user privacy in digital library services. This research has security and privacy risks involved in digital library services, how security technologies are implemented, and how privacy regulations and policies impact the situation. Results show that virus attacks and brute force attacks are some of the security threats of digital libraries. To protect sensitive user data, the use of security technologies such as data encryption and the use of firewalls are also very important. Privacy regulations and policies such as GDPR go a long way in helping digital libraries maintain the privacy of their users. This analysis enhances our understanding of the problems and solutions in data security management and user privacy in digital library services. Thus, this research highlights the importance of managing information security and user privacy in the context of digital library services to ensure optimal protection of sensitive user data.
Cindy Amelia Putri Rully Khairul Anwar Siti Chaerani Djen Amar Evi Nursanti Rukmana Copyright (c) 2024 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2024-12-31 2024-12-31 31 3 266 276 10.37014/medpus.v31i3.5317 Perkembangan Penelitian Penggunaan Artificial Intelligence di Perpustakaan Berbasis Data Scopus https://ejournal.perpusnas.go.id/mp/article/view/5316
This study aims to analyze the development of AI use in libraries with bibliometric methods based on Scopus data.
